They reached out to JKR with the challenge of creating its first ever global brand identity, unifying Fanta's look across 180 different markets around the world.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; As part of the team led by Lisa Smith, my role was to translate the 'Pop of Fun-ta' brand idea into every element of the brand toolkit: improving the logo; selecting an endless range of combinations for the color palette, fine tuning with print production to maintain consistency between digital and print; and setting up a system that enabled the creation of packaging for more than 100 flavors. ︎ After more than a decade performing as a drummer, his debut as a composer brings in heartfelt lyrics as he curiously dives within to connect with his roots.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The design stems from basic graphic elements associated with rhythm, such as repetition. On the cover, title and artist name are repeated to form a strong frame, emphasizing the square format. Further repetition of this pulse combined with the slanted distortion of the typography creates a tunnel vision of concentric squares that suggests an inward perspective. This logic is applied both to the CD and to the 4x4 insert, which is type set as to create an inward rotating motion.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; In Fonte's music, precision lays the foundation for groove to set in. The rigidness conveyed by the justified text boxes and strict grids, is balanced off with liquid like distortions, once more indicating concentric patterns found in sound waves and water ripples. In the context of the quarantine, launching a physical CD package offered a way for musicians to physically connect with their listeners.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; As the compact disk media format rapidly progresses to become ultimately obsolete, the releasing of a CD is justified solely by the printed packaging which contains it. Purchasing a CD becomes a form of escaping the digital realm and connecting with the artist through the materiality of the media. The publication presents a series of photographic diptychs, unsetling juxtaposed pairs created by Marina with photos from her archive, taken between 2015-2020.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; By putting her pictures against each other, Marina creates collisions of textures, bodies, colors, shapes. A dialogue between the strength of her photos.&nbsp;The design of the book was an opportunity to articulate new relationships between the images; associations of associations. The book's format was devised to accommodate the variety of proportions of the images and also the limitations imposed by the resolution of some of their files. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The title of the book has two meanings, which translate to "get in" and "between", a fortunate double-meaning word for a book of "doubles". "ENTRE" is a combination of letters that suggests symmetry and allows a division in two. This aspect was explored in the spine, which divides the diptych in the middle, as well as in the title page, with the word cut in half above a depicted spinal column. The cover's central element is a life-size tamarind candy wrap from an all time classic brazilian treat, famous for it's hard on the mouth sweet and sour flavor. The candy's bittersweetness is a symbol for Ana's "parallelism". She would throw tamarind candies to the crowd at her concerts, inviting the audience to feel what the music tasted like. The candywrap's red checkerboard picnic-cloth design determines the book's minimal color palette, in line with her straightforward approach to poetry.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The title is set in a squished custom lettering with an appetite appeal intention. The typeface used in the covers is Vulf Sans, the sans serif counterpart of Vulf Mono, which is used in the texts. The funky typewriter face has a musical DNA that provides just the right amount of uneasiness and sophistication to the reading. The design further explores this concept and takes inspiration from Brazilian street food packaging. Popcorn and other treats sold in small street carts usually come in a cheaply printed paper bag with the product name repeated all over it. Having the logo repeated as a pattern is also a reference to sticky pop songs that stick to your head like caramel popcorn sticks to your fingers.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The color palette is a not-so-subtle play on how the combination of red and blue quickly screams "USA" and therefore, pop music culture in general. It revolutionized popular art by promoting the incorporation and amalgamation of foreign styles and traditions into brazilian culture. Students at ESDI organised a series of open-air public lectures discussing the movement’s contribution to design and other disciplines, 50 years later. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Each lecture was recorded and published as a book, printed in the university's self-managed crowd-sourced printshop.
